Graham Sherman is a self-professed “high level geek” who, together with his business partner Jeff Orr met while working throughout Afghanistan on contracts for the Canadian and US governments and military forces, installing encrypted, tactical communication networks. By day, they rolled around Afghanistan in armoured vehicles, “geeking out” in the world of satellite communications. Ray is one of the four founding members of Kenway Mack Slusarchuk Stewart LLP. Ray earned his Bachelor of Commerce from the University of British Columbia in 1973, his CA designation in 1975 and FCA in 2000.
Ray was a member on the Board of Evaluators of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA) from 2002 – 2005, served as President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta (ICAA) 2000 - 2001, and was managing partner of KMSS from 1986 to 1999. He was the President of DFK International 2005 – 2008 and served as President of DFK Canada 1995 - 1998. Ray is on the Board of Raging River Exploration Inc., a publicly traded oil and gas company and on the Board of Covenant Health, responsible for 26 Catholic health care facilities in Alberta.
Ray has presented on IT and practice management issues for many years at the CA Small Practioners’ Forum, CA Forum North, and DFK International conferences. He has spoken at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ireland’s annual conference on IT issues. He is currently serves on the DFK International IT Committee.
In 2011, he received the DFK International Meritorious Service award for his many years of leadership to the organization.
He semi-retired from Kenway Mack in January 2011. When not at the office, he is actively pursuing his passions for skiing, biking, photography and travel.
